Did the W114 come with a sound proofing material that went between the body and carpet?

Yes, it did. It is a fairly heavy pad that resembles fiber and horsehair. Pretty rugged stuff. On my W114 (280C) it has worn through around the pedals, so I filled it in with some other padding. It is not nearly as good or dense as the original stuff and will probably have to be replaced again. I haven't even tried to get it from my parts places....maybe I should, but it's not that big a deal, yet.
