I am confused on the classes, I didn't think the W114 was technically an S-Class is it?

IMO, "no", not as you would normally think of the larger "S" class vehicles The W114 is a smaller vehicle, but there are some 114-115 4-door vehicles that share the "S". As far as I know, back then, the "S" meant sedan.

Just did a little research and the 114-115 vehicles are considered mid-size vehicles equivelant to the current "E" class vehicles. The "S" class are the large sedans.
