Default Hello

Looks like I'm here at the beginning. Best wishes on the new site.

We have an 87 560SL which my wife uses as a daily driver (she loves that car).

[I found this site from an administrator post in Jeepforum (apparently connected to some degree). The admin was not sure how much crossover there was... but there obviously is some ]

Best wishes for a long lasting, informative forum. I also picked up on this forum from the Jeep Forum. Thanks for the heads up. I've had vintage Benz's for almost 25 years, and got the bug from my Dad, who used to be a Benz nut years ago.

For about 10 years back in the 90's I was a member of the Mercedes Benz Club of America, 3 of which were spent as the President of the Idaho Chapter. I got too busy to continue, plus the wife and I ended up doing all the work. Now I just continue to be a "CAR NUT", and enjoy tinkering with my DCX (Hemi Magnum and Hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland) vehicles, my classic Mercedes 250S and 280C, and my almost classic Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Welcome guys! It's a slow start but I hope for things to pick up after the Holiday break.

I'm also in the Vintage class. Bought an early 1970's W114. Needs a bit of engine work which I'm doing this weekend but body/frame/interior are all in very good condition.

Does your W114 have the M110 engine? What kind of problems do you have with chassis and drivetrain?

I'm from JF as well. Kau may be surprised to see that the guy always selling used Jeep crap over there has something that actually belongs over here. (Its all part of the master plan! )

I'm not surprised, you guys seem to be Jacks of all Trades (First time I've ever pluralized that expression.).

It could be, but it has lost its magic. Swimming in the stuff got old. (I actually had my own 10k forklift at the house for a while. )

I'm enjoying replacing "the pile" with nicer things, but I will still build another CJ when I come back from overseas in 2011-12. Held on to a 10a frame for that.

I get that. We've got 4 parts Cherokees and two parts Wranglers in the yard. Did just finish a Cherokee for a DD and another is almost there. The rest, if people don't start buying parts, are bound for the crusher. Got to keep my buddy from stripping my Mercedes.
